OUR PHILOSOPHY
From shamanic to Zen:
A poetic reflection on adornments.
Rooted in the vision of harmony between nature and humanity, Chicxūlab shapes adornments from meteorites, tektites, fine silver, brass, ebony, and clay—materials bearing the raw traces of nature and the subtle imprint of the artisan. Creation itself becomes a meditation: suspended between the flawless order of sacred geometry and Daoist ideas of non-action embraced by Mono-ha, we contemplate the formless essence of all things, and from it, weave an eclectic aesthetics of the beyond.

We are interested in modes of perception that have gradually lost their names in contemporary language, yet continue to operate beneath the surface of daily life. In an age shaped by rationality, efficiency, and explainability, the relationship between body, object, and environment is often reduced to function or ornament, overlooking the deeper connections formed through time. Rather than drawing from a specific belief system or symbolic tradition, our work begins with a sustained state of sensitivity—one that persists through bodily response, material contact, and repeated wear. Creation does not begin with imposed ideas, but with sustained practice. Here, the self is treated as method, and life as an ongoing process of practice. Through making, wearing, and prolonged contact, perception gradually opens—allowing meaning to emerge over time rather than being predetermined.
Here, jewelry is not treated as a sign or a declaration, but as a mediator: carried by the body, shaped by duration, and gradually accumulating meaning through use. We believe that presence is not produced through spectacle, but through continuity. By the time things becomes visible, they have often already existed for a long time.
